History


In 1924 Blattner Furniture in Fulton, Missouri was founded when Fred Blattner bought out his two partners, Herndon and Taylor. His son, Howard Blattner, took over operation of the store in 1945 and ran it successfully until 1979, selling it to his son John at that time. Then, in 1997, the former Milo Walz Stores were purchased in Columbia and Jefferson City. The stores were renamed and presently Blattner Home Furnishings has two locations; Columbia and Jefferson City.

Interior Design

Blattner Home furnishings offers professional in-home design counseling. The service is complimentary with any purchase. We have extensive catalog and fabric selections which will allow us to offer you endless selections and possibilities. Since we are not limited to only what we carry inside our showroom, we feel our designers are extremely valuable in assisting you and overcoming what could be mind-boggling options by selecting what is perfect for your home.

Store Policies

Service Warranty

Blattner Home Furnishings guarantees to the original purchaser to repair or replace any furniture found to have a manufacturing defect by offering a lifetime warranty on all sofa frames and springs, and a 5-year warranty on cushion cores. In addition, all solid wood products carry a lifetime warranty and all other wood products have a 5-year warranty. Repair or replacement under this warranty is Blattner Home Furnishing's Option. This option makes the warranty a limited guarantee. Manufacturer's guarantee will be used where applicable. This guarantee applies only under conditions of normal use, and does not apply to defects that result from negligence, misuse or accidents and does not cover clearance items.

This guarantee covers glue joints, seam separations, season splits, warping*, sticking drawers, cracked, flaking or lifting of finishes, or any defect that might arise from natural causes. Upholstered pieces will be warranted against frame or spring problems.**

It will be the responsibility of the purchaser to get the piece to and from our store for repair. Otherwise, delivery charges will apply.

Important things to know to properly care for your furniture:

Wood Finish: Wood finishes are resistant to damage but unfortunately are not damage proof. Use felt pads under lamps and accessories to help prevent scratches and always remember that heat, water and alcohol will damage the finish if exposure is prolonged.

*Store unused tables leaves and shelves flat beneath a sofa or bed to prevent them from warping. Refrain from using any plastic tablecloths, placemats or foam table pads because these materials trap condensation and will ruin the finish. Polish no more than twice a year using a good polish like Guardsman. To remove fingerprints, use a mild detergent and water. Rinse and dry well. For everyday cleaning, use a soft dry cloth. All solid wood tabletops have a small gap where the tops and leaves come together. This is to allow for the natural expansion of wood. It can be in the center or on the sides. If smaller than a dime, it is within industry standards. All cherry wood has small sap pockets or "cherry pits". These are natural characteristics and are not considered defects in the wood.

Fabric: **Manufactures of upholstered fabric do not guarantee their products of wearing quality or colorfastness. Our suppliers try to select only those fabrics that are durable and colorfast and we will make every effort to help you select the fabric that is best suited for your use. To ensure the greatest performance from your fabric, clean upholstery frequently by light brushing or vacuuming. Turn seat cushions and loose back pillows often and take arm caps on and off to equalize wear and fade. Fabric protection is guaranteed by the manufacturers and we will help you in any way we can with a claim.

Leather: Leather and vinyl should be dusted and occasionally washed with a mild detergent. Do not use leather preservatives or saddle soaps. They can react with the finish. Check with us before using anything to clean your leather.

Delivery Policy

Blattner Home Furnishings offer delivery in the Mid Missouri Area. Deliverymen will place your purchases safely in your home. Please have areas cleaned and prepared for your new items. We are not equiped to move electronics, pool tables, pianos, or other bulky items. Please contact either store for pricing information.

Storage/Layaway Policy

Did you find the perfect sofa or accent accessory, but you're not ready for delivery quite yet? No problem! Use our easy Storage plan.

  1. All purchases must be paid in full to be placed in storage/layaway.
  2. Sorry, clearance items may not be placed in storage.
  3. A storage fee of $50.00 per month will begin on any merchandise placed in storage/layaway after 60 days. Maximum hold not to exceed 120 days. After 120 days merchandise will be released for sale and all balances placed on account. No refunds.

Special Orders

Allow up to 12 weeks or more on special orders. No discounts given for shipping delays. We have no control over manufacturing schedules and do not guarantee shipping dates. There is a 50% non-refundable deposit on special orders. All undelivered special orders are to be paid in full no later than 30 days after order is received.

Refunds and Returns

Blattner Home Furnishings reserves the right to refund/return. Allow up to 30 days.

50% restocking fee to cancel or refuse a special order. 50% restocking fee to return any delivered order.

No refunds on delivery charges, stain protection or clearance items. No refunds or returns allowed after merchandise has been in your home or held by store for 5 days or more.

All undelivered special orders to be paid in full no later than 30 days after order is received. In stock purchases to be paid in full no later than 30 days from ticket dates. A 2% service charge will be applied to all past due accounts including storage fees and layaway balances.
